THE PLEDGE
Committing to Data Privacy
A signatory of the Data Privacy Pledge agrees in writing to every one of the following. There are no partial signatories.
The Ag Privacy Commitment is a voluntary pledge made by companies serving agriculture. By signing this pledge, participating businesses publicly commit to protecting customer information and respecting the privacy of farmers, ranchers, dealerships, contractors, and rural businesses.
Agriculture runs on trust. Farmers share equipment data, contact information, financial details, precision agriculture information, and operational insights with the expectation that it will be used responsibly. The Ag Privacy Commitment exists to ensure that trust is not abused.
Signatories agree to the following principles:
No Selling Customer Data
We will not sell customer data to third parties, data brokers, advertising networks, or outside marketers.
Limited Data Sharing
We will only share customer information when necessary to complete a transaction or provide a requested service. This may include payment processing, financing approvals initiated by the customer, shipping coordination, or other operational needs directly related to the transaction.
No Unauthorized Remarketing
We will not allow third parties to use customer information for unrelated marketing, solicitation, or remarketing purposes without explicit customer consent.
Transparency
We will clearly communicate what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used. We will not intentionally hide privacy practices behind confusing language or misleading policies.
Customer Ownership of Information
We recognize that customer and farm data belongs to the customer, not the platform, software provider, dealership, or service provider collecting it.
Responsible Technology Practices
We will take reasonable steps to protect customer information from unauthorized access, misuse, or exposure through secure systems and responsible internal practices.
No Exploitation of Farm Data
We will not use operational, agronomic, equipment, or behavioral data in ways that unfairly disadvantage customers or manipulate markets against their interests.
Consent Matters
If additional uses of customer data fall outside normal business operations, we will seek clear and informed consent before proceeding.
Accountability
By displaying the Ag Privacy Commitment badge, we publicly affirm these standards and understand that violating them undermines the trust of the agricultural community.
Agriculture First
We believe farmers and rural businesses should not have to trade away their privacy in exchange for modern digital tools, marketplaces, financing, or connected technology.
Closing Statement
The Ag Privacy Commitment is built on a simple belief:
Farmers should remain customers, not products.
As agriculture becomes increasingly digital, protecting privacy is not optional. It is part of doing business the right way.
